Choose From Three Areas of Emphasis

Northern’s program integrates the requisite general education core mandated by the Board of Regents alongside the graduation requirements set by our university. Instead of a conventional major, you can engage in 3 different 15-credit areas of emphasis, allowing for an extensive selection of courses across various academic disciplines. This approach ensures a comprehensive academic experience that provides the flexibility to choose courses aligning with your career interests.

Your academic journey as a Bachelor of General Studies major culminates in a comprehensive capstone course. This experience allows you to exhibit proficiency in your three selected areas of emphasis by demonstrating a mastery of collegiate competencies in domains such as communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and integrative synthesis.
