VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a direct and secure way to connect to Northern State University's campus network remotely.

VPN allows your computer to access systems on campus that are blocked from off-campus. There are many common systems which do NOT require VPN; below are some examples:

  • Email
  • D2L
  • Banner Self-Service
    • This includes faculty and advisor information: Seeing class rosters, entering grades, viewing advisees, and more
  • Panopto
  • Zoom
  • SNAP
    • This includes access to timecards, and sdezbuy
  • Formstack

Common systems which DO require VPN are:

  • Network drives (F, H and other file shares)
  • ImageNow
  • Banner Finance
  • Banner Admin
  • Cognos
